By using dumbells, this workout allows you to move more naturally than using barbells.

How to Dumbbell Squat

Starting Position

1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and hold a dumbbell in each hand.

2. Keep your arms at your sides with your palms facing inward.

3. Keep your back straight and your chest up.

4. Lift your toes slightly and engage your core.

Proper Form

1. Begin the movement by pushing your hips back and bending your knees to lower your body into a squat.

2. Keep your chest up and your back straight.

3. Lower until your thighs are parallel to the floor.

4. Push through your heels to return to the starting position.

Breathing Technique

1. Inhale as you lower into the squat.

2. Exhale as you push back up.

Precautions

1. Make sure your knees track over your toes.

2. Don't let your knees collapse inward.

3. Keep your weight in your heels.

4. Don't let your back round.
