How to

Starting Position

1. Set the safety rails of the Smith Machine to your desired height. 2. Stand in front of the Smith Machine with your feet hip-width apart and your toes pointed slightly outward. 3. Place your hands on the bar, with your palms facing down and your arms shoulder-width apart. 4. Keep your back straight and your chest up. 5. Keep your head in a neutral position, looking straight ahead.

Proper Form

1. Take a deep breath and brace your core. 2. Slowly lower the barbell by pushing your hips back and keeping your legs straight. 3. Continue to lower the barbell until it is just below knee level. 4. Pause for a moment and then push your hips forward to return the barbell to the starting position.

Breathing Technique

1. Take a deep breath in before you start the exercise. 2. Breathe out as you lower the barbell. 3. Take a deep breath in as you return to the starting position.

Precautions

1. Keep your back straight and your core engaged throughout the exercise. 2. Move slowly and with control to avoid using momentum. 3. Do not lower the barbell too far or lock your knees as this can cause injury.
