How to

Starting Position

1. Stand in front of a Smith Machine with the bar set at a height slightly above your mid-thigh. 2. Place your feet hip-width apart, with your toes facing forward. 3. Reach down and grab the bar with an overhand grip, slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. 4. Keep your back straight and your chest up.

Proper Form

1. Step back with your right leg and lower your body into a lunge, keeping your back straight and your chest up. 2. Push through your left heel to return to the starting position. 3. Repeat the movement with your left leg.

Breathing Technique

1. Breathe in as you lower your body into the lunge. 2. Breathe out as you push through your heel and return to the starting position.

Precautions

1. Keep your back straight and your chest up throughout the exercise. 2. Do not let your knee go past your toes as you lower your body into the lunge. 3. Do not lock your knees at the top of the movement. 4. Make sure to keep your core engaged throughout the exercise.
