How to Weighted Crunch
Starting Position
1. Keep your lower back pressed against the bench throughout the movement to prevent injury.
2. Avoid arching your back when you raise your shoulder blades off the bench.
3. Do not hold your breath during the exercise.
Proper Form
1. Keeping your lower back pressed against the flat bench, raise your shoulder blades off the bench.
2. Keep your arms straight and hold the weight plate against your chest.
3. Pause for a moment at the top of the movement, then lower your shoulder blades back to the bench.
Breathing Technique
1. As you raise your shoulder blades off the bench, inhale deeply.
2. As you lower your shoulder blades back to the bench, exhale.
Precautions
1. Lie down on a flat bench or exercise mat with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor.
2. Hold a weight plate, medicine ball, or any weighted object against your chest.
