Open your chest by rotating your thoracic spine and when you lift the dumbbells, make sure your waist is in a vertical line. Slightly extend your head forward! In the starting position, shrug your shoulders up a bit to create a comfortable posture. When lowering, think of keeping your elbows close to your ears so they don’t flare out. As you lower, when your elbows are parallel to the ceiling or slightly below, feel the tension in that area and then go back up from there. When going up, do the opposite of the descending order! The reason the instructor might be in pain is likely because there isn’t enough space for the dumbbells as you go down. Try extending your head slightly forward before you lower down.
