The starting point of the biceps is the shoulder. You might expect that the biceps won't move first, and there is a possibility that the shoulder will bear the load first. Alternatively, there may have been excessive tension in the shoulder during the preparatory movement. Try using an appropriate weight to practice a bit and then do the main exercise.
