Coach's Tips

It is said to have originated from training soldiers in Russia to strengthen their core strength. If you are not familiar with the motion, you can stick your legs to the floor!

How to Russian Twist

Starting Position

1. Sit on the floor with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor.

2. Lean back slightly at a 45-degree angle and engage your core.

3. Reach your arms straight out in front of you, parallel to the ground.

Proper Form

1. Twist your torso to one side, bringing your arms to the side of your body.

2. Pause for a moment and then twist to the other side.

3. Repeat the movement, alternating sides.

Breathing Technique

1. Exhale as you twist to the side and hold your breath for a moment as you pause.

2. Inhale as you twist back to the center.

Precautions

1. Make sure to maintain a straight back and keep your core engaged throughout the exercise.

2. Don't allow your arms to drop below your chest level.

3. Move slowly and with control to prevent injury.
