1. Place the barbell in front of your feet and spread your legs shoulder-width apart.

3. Grip the barbell with both hands at about shoulder-width apart.

2. When the barbell reaches waist height, bend your arms and contract your shoulders to bring the barbell to shoulder height.
3. At this time, keep your elbows close to your body.
4. Once the barbell reaches your shoulders, extend your arms to lift the barbell upwards.
Exhale when lifting the barbell, and inhale when returning to the starting position.
