The dumbbell bent-over row is a back exercise done by bending forward with a dumbbell in each hand. It works your lats, traps, and rhomboids to help build a thicker back.
1. Hold a dumbbell in each hand and stand with your feet shoulder-width apart.
2. Slightly bend your knees and push your hips back while leaning your upper body forward.
3. Keep your back straight and let the dumbbells hang naturally below your shoulders.
1. Pull the dumbbell up towards your belly button or lower chest while pulling your elbows back.
2. Squeeze your shoulder blades together and contract your back.
3. Keep your upper body at the same angle and engage your core to prevent your body from swaying.
4. Slowly lower the dumbbell back to the starting position.
Exhale when pulling the dumbbell, and inhale when lowering the dumbbell.
1. Maintain a neutral position to avoid rounding your back.
2. Be careful not to use weights that are too heavy to avoid using momentum.
3. Keep your gaze focused on the floor in front of you to avoid straining your neck.
